86-year-old Dr. Robert Hammond of Long Beach, CA appears on episode #243 of Hometown Heroes, debuting December 15, 2012. A native of Philadelphia, PA, Hammond enlisted in the Navy as a teenager and became a corpsman. He served with the Montford Point Marines, the first African-American servicemen to wear the USMC uniform.
