89-year-old Al Tortolano of Santa Clara, CA appears on episode #158 of Hometown Heroes, airing April 9, 2011. A recipient of the Bronze Star and Purple Heart, Al was one of the “Lost Battalion” (1st Battalion, 141st Infantry Regiment, 36th Infantry Division) soldiers rescued by the 442nd Regimental Combat Team in October 1944.
