Resilient Vet Marks 100th Birthday

Episode #603 of Hometown Heroes, airing November 21-25, 2019, focuses on World War II veteran Bill Barrett, who recently celebrated his 100th birthday at the Pueblo Weisbrod Aircraft Museum in Pueblo, CO, where he has served as a volunteer docent for the last nine years. Barrett shared his story on episode #467 of Hometown Heroes in 2017, intimating that he was already planning to hold a 100th birthday party at the museum. A fall he suffered just before reaching the century mark on November 6 took him temporarily out of the docent schedule and meant he had to celebrate in a wheelchair, but that didn’t stop him from enjoying an unforgettable moment.
