93-year-old Charlie Wilson of Bakersfield, CA appears on episode #586 of Hometown Heroes, airing July 25-29, 2019. A native of West New York, NJ, Wilson served with the 1503rd Air Transport Command in the Pacific during World War II. We’ll hear how the training and education he received on his way to becoming a radio operator in the U.S. Army Air Corps led to a contribution he made toward NASA’s drive to land on the moon in the 1960s.
